“Each and every being has an innate ability to heal as a gift from the gods.” – Mikao Usui, founder of Usui Reiki
Reiki is an energetic healing practice that is now offered by hospitals all over the world. Although many people when they first hear of Reiki question its effectiveness, more and more hospitals are integrating it into their patient care. It is recognized by the American Nurses Association for continuing education. Reiki is complimentary with other healing modalities, including Western Medicine. It is a simple, natural and safe method of energy healing that has no known side effects.
Reiki is associated with Mikao Usui. He is credited with rediscovering the system we now call Reiki. The word Reiki comes from the Japanese word (Rei) which means “Universal Life” and (Ki) which means “Energy”. Today Reiki takes many forms, however Usui Reiki is still the most widely practiced.
During a Reiki session – you will remain fully clothed (so be sure to wear something comfortable) – your practitioner will place her hands in a prescribed method over your head, torso, legs and feet, offering the Reiki through light touch or with hands hovering just above the body.
Reiki can help with:
Finding deeper meaning in life
Relaxing your body and your mind
Easing pain and physical tension
Healing emotional and spiritual wounds
Harmony and Balance
During a Reiki session, you may feel a peace and calm in your mind and body. A Reiki session can help with many things, but the most immediate effect will be to relieve stress and tension, helping to relax muscles and emotional tension. It is a great gift to give yourself!
